The purpose of
this tour is the
visit of the
Vatican Museums
and a large part
of the Vatican
City, one of the
European
microstates,
situated on the
Vatican Hill in
the west-central
part of Rome,
Its borders
closely follow
the city wall
constructed to
protect the Pope
from outside
attack. Leaving
the Piazza San
Bernardo,
adorned by
Moses’ Fountain
the itinerary
will continue
passing by Via
Bissolati, Via
Veneto and the
Villa Borghese.

building inside
the Vatican City
and built on the
ruins of Old
Saint Peter's
Basilica. On
wednesday, due
to the Papal
Audience, the
church of St.
Peter will be
visited only
from outside.

TIVOLI AND ITS
VILLAS
Going along the
motorway we will
get to Tivoli, a
world-known
small town since
ancient times
for its soothing
spring of “Acqua
Albulea” (sulphureous
baths). Crossing
the Ponte
Lucano, we will
admire the Tomb
of Plautius
Lucanus before
arriving to
visit Hadrian’s
Villa (from the
parking till the
entrance a
walking distance
of 300 meters
has to been
calculated)
built under the
homonymous
emperor. We will
continue our
sightseeing with
a visit of Villa
D’Este, famous
for its water
system, the
architecture of
its gardens, the
pavilions, the
artificial caves
and the
fountains.

Ostia antica
Ostia antica
takes its name
from the latin
word ostium
meaning mouth.
Founded as a
military base,
it became an
important
commercial port
for the supply
of grain for
Rome. Starting
from Porta
Romana and
proceeding along
the main road -
Decumanus
Maximus - we
will visit the
old metropolis
and Piazzale
della Vittoria.
Next we will
visit the baths
of Neptune, one
of the public
services of the
city constructed
by Adriano and
ornated with
fine mosaics.
Behind the Bath’s
of Neptune, the
Firemen’s
barrack of the
Adrian’s age.
The visit will
continue with
the Theatre
erected by
Agrippa in the
1st century b.c.
From the top of
the staircase
you have a
beautiful view
of the
excavations.
After having
visited the
House of Diana
we will reach
the centre of
Ostia where we

Forum, the
political centre
of Ostia, the
Temple of Rome
and Augustus and

After leaving
Rome and driving

Arrival at the
pier of Naples
and embarque to
Capri, an island
on the south
side of the Gulf
of Naples, that
has been a
celebrated
beauty spot and
resort since the
time of the
Roman Republic.

seaport of
Marina Grande we
will continue on
board of a
minibus until
Anacapri, little
town located
high on the
hills. After
lunch transfer
to the town of
Capri, where you

Florence
After a short
panoramic tour
of its northern
part, we will
leave Rome, by
the “Sun Route”
motorway,
crossing the
regions Lazio
and Umbria, to
reach our
destination:
Florence. City
of Etruscan-
Roman origins,
it flourished in
the Middle Ages
as a free
commune.
Furtherly
refined by the
Renaissance Art
and enriched by
the Medici rule,
Florence is the
cradle of
Italian language.
We will arrive
in the heart of
the city to
visit the
Galleria
dell’Accademia,
where the
original David
by Michelangelo
is kept,
together with
the Third
“Pietà” and the
Prisons, also by
Michelangelo (for
technical
reasons this
visit could be
replaced with a
visit of the
Opera del
Duomo). We will
then proceed to
the Cathedral of
Santa Maria del
Fiore, with the
magnificent dome
projected by
Brunelleschi,
the Baptistry
with the golden
bronze doors by
Ghiberti and
Giotto’s Belfry.
From here, we
walk to Piazza
della Signoria

After a short
panoramic tour
of its northern

be in Orvieto,

medieval small

its Cathedral.

vineyards, olive
groves and nice
villages on top
of the hills.
The itinerary is

medieval cities:
Spoleto (world-famous

“Festival dei
Due Mondi”),
Trevi, Foligno,
